Orchid Keiki

Now that Christmas is over, I can turn more attention to my orchids. One of my delights is finding two spikes on a keiki that was planted in October. This keiki traveled in a suitcase from Dallas and was fairly flat when it arrived. I had no faith that I could actually make it grow, but I prepared some orchid and coconut bark and put it in a pot anyway.
My brother-in-law had brought the keiki and couldn't remember what phalaenopsis he had taken it from, so we don't know the name or the color.
However, not only did the little thing grow, but a few weeks ago, I spotted what looked like two flower spikes emerging. They were indeed spikes and as you see in the picture, the plant and the spikes look very healthy.
I kept the plant more moist than was prudent, but it must have been the right thing to do.
I will keep auntiemaine posted as to the growth of the spikes and have pictures when they actually bloom.
